Artist L. S. Lowry lived all his life with his over-bearing mother Elizabeth. Bed-ridden and bitter, Elizabeth actively tried to dissuade her bachelor son from pursuing his artistic ambitions, whilst never failing to voice her opinion at what a disappointment he is to her. Mrs Lowry and Son, a powerful drama imagines the impact this obsessive mother and son relationship had on the great artist.
At the moment we are spoilt for choice when it comes to plays in London, but hidden away inside the smaller theatre at Trafalgar Studios is one of the most special shows I have seen for a while, Mrs Lowry and Son.
